[CCoE Notice] ANNOUNCEMENT - Appointment of Dr. Li Sun effective March 1, 2020

Dear Cullen College Faculty and Staff:

It is my pleasure to announce that Dr. Li Sun will assume the position of Director of the UH-Dalian Institute effective March 1.


In his new role, Dr. Sun will work to promote the University of Houston and assist local leadership in Dalian in their outreach, recruitment and retention efforts, work with our college administrators to plan the academic mission at UH-Dalian, provide any necessary student services, work with non-UH faculty in preparing, qualification and teaching based on UH curriculum, recruit students wishing to pursue graduate degrees at UH, schedule and manage online courses offered at Dalian, and provide annual reports on student success metrics, among others.


Dr. Sun is currently a professor and Graduate Admissions Director of Mechanical Engineering. He is also the director of the Subsea Engineering Program. Based on both his educational background and his professional experiences, Dr. Sun will able to bring a unique perspective to this new partnership between UH and Dalian Maritime University.


I look forward to Dr. Sun's contributions and future successes at UH-Dalian as well as advancing our goals as outlined in the CCE Vision 2020 strategic plan. Please join me in welcoming and congratulating him in his new role.
