Good morning,
The email below is going out to everyone on campus. It is a legitimate email from UIT, notifying us of an improved SPAM filter that will catch malicious emails sent to UH email server. I look forward to it improving our SPAM and phishing situations on campus. However, please continue to stay alert and question carefully each email that looks suspicious.
Thanks and stay safe.

Here is the email going out to all students, faculty and staff this morning:
[University of Houston - University Information Technology]
University Information Technology will upgrade our email security and SPAM filtering this month to better protect the UH community. The new service will provide industry leading detection of malicious emails before they get to your Exchange mailbox and remove or quarantine them before they create a risk to our users.
Users will see:
* up to 98% reduction of spam
* option to configure what SPAM messages can get through to your inbox
* an additional layer of virus protection that blocks viruses before they get to your computer
* improved process for reporting suspicious emails through Outlook
This upgrade will take place behind the scenes and will not require any action on your part. Aside from receiving less SPAM, most users will not even notice the change. Feel free to reach out to the IT Support Center at 713-743-1411 for more information or assistance.
