Dear Cullen College Faculty and Staff:

As I am sure you have all heard by now, the University of Houston is preparing to launch a new university-wide strategic plan, known as UH:100 Dare to Dream.

[cid:d25606ab-f1ba-4e55-b725-9923b0cbad74]
The launch of the university's last strategic plan in 2009 served as a great source of inspiration and tremendous positive change. In the last ten years, UH attained Tier One status along with national and international recognition as a leading academic and research university, and the Cullen College achieved a record number of milestones. Enrollment headcounts are at an all-time high, we have set new standards for student success and faculty excellence, and our research expenditures continue to grow. In fact, the Cullen College of Engineering is now leading the way with more research expenditures than any other academic unit on campus.

We have much to be proud of, and as the university approaches its centennial, it is time to think about the future. UH100: Dare to Dream is an opportunity for us to see once again what we can achieve.

The first phase of UH100: Dare to Dream will involve forums to source ideas on how to build this new strategic plan. Your participation is essential, and I ask you all to attend. Provost Short has called on our college to bring forth our boldest and most creative ideas on how we as a university can improve our community, our city and the world at large. The ideas brought forth in our college's forum will serve as the basis, broad themes and priorities of our next strategic plan.

Our college's listening forum will take place on February 7th at 9 a.m. in L2D2.

Please make a note of the above date and mark your calendars accordingly. Our college would not be where it is today without our faculty, staff and student population. You are the backbone of our college and this is your chance to help shape our vision and future. I hope to see you all there and I look forward to hearing your inspiring ideas.
