Dear Engineering Faculty and Staff,

On Monday August 3, President Khator sent a communication to all faculty and staff detailing the University's plan for reopening campus. You may read her letter in full here<https://uh.edu/president/communications/communicae/20200803-reopening-for-the-fall-semester/>.

As stated in the message, the University will begin Phase 3 of reopening on Monday August 10th, which involves the return of faculty and staff to campus. After much discussion, the Cullen College has developed a plan for our community.

The Dean's Office will reopen on Monday August 10th. Beginning on Monday August 17th, we are asking that each department within the college have on-campus representation during normal business hours. We understand the importance of flexibility during this time, and that each department has different needs and modes of operation. As such, we have asked each department head to develop a plan for what will work best for their areas. These plans will consist of a staggered schedule compliant with the CDC's guidelines for social distancing to limit the transmission of COVID-19. Your supervisor will relay their plan to you in the coming days if they have not yet done so.

I would like to stress that these plans are being developed with maximum flexibility and your individual personal and professional circumstances in mind. It is important that we make safety and compassion our top priorities as we take this next step. I would also like to remind you of the following resources and COVID-19 guidelines:

Also, and I cannot stress this enough, do not come to campus if you are feeling unwell. If we are to successfully navigate this fall semester, it will require all of us working together to prevent the spread. Any questions regarding COVID-19 positive cases or exposure should be directed to covid19coordinator at uh.edu.

Thank you for your continued patience throughout this process. I know these are anxious and uncertain times, but I have faith that we will persevere. Please continue to stay safe and if you have any concerns, do not hesitate to consult with your immediate supervisor.

Warm Regards,
