I assist the Mickey Leland Energy Fellowship (MLEF) Program which provides STEM students with an opportunity to gain and develop research skills with the U.S. Department of Energy for 10 weeks over the summer.  Fellows gain hands-on research experience and insight into how the DOE is working to meet the energy challenges of the future under the mentorship of program officials and scientists.  The program provides a stipend and travel. Some students may be eligible to receive a housing subsidy for the duration of the program. Ms. Angela Houston is an Office of Fossil Energy staff member who is available to visit UH on Monday, October 22, 2018. I think this could be a wonderful opportunity for her to hold an information session to share information on this opportunity as well as several other research programs available at the DOE. We have programs in which both students and faculty can apply.  In addition, she would be available to do classrooms visits for a quick 5 - 10 minute presentation about the MLEF and to highlight the information session.
