Subject: Decision for 57 Clusters of Excellence with in Germany's Excellence Strategy



Dear All,

Today, 57 new Clusters of Excellence within the Germany's Excellence Strategy have been announced. Starting January 1, 2019, they will be funded with an anual total of about 385m Euros for seven years after which they can re-apply for another funding period of seven years. With the attached list, you have a first glance at new highlights within the landscape of Germany's research universities.  I will share the press release as soon as it becomes available in English.

The next step would be looking at what cluster(s) of cooperation would make most sense for UH. The German Research Foundation - Office North America will help us to establish contact with the chosen cluster(s). In the meantime, please let your faculty know about it. Thanks.
