Good Evening,
For the last few days it is possible that users have not been able to connect successfully to the UH VPN server using the native Microsoft client that has been configured on the majority of the Engineering laptops. We are aware of this problem and have a solution in place. For some users Engineering IT has already installed the new Cisco AnyConnect software. To see if this software is already installed do the following:
Windows 7 - Click Start - All Programs - Look for the Cisco folder and you should see the Cisco AnyConnect client.
Windows 10- Click Start - Under C - Look for the Cisco folder and you should see the Cisco AnyConnect client.
If the software is already on your machine there is no need to send an email.
For all faculty and staff that do not have the client installed and use a Windows OS laptop please send Eric Stern, ejstern at central.uh.edu<mailto:ejstern at central.uh.edu> or estern at uh.edu<estern at uh.edu%20> an email letting him know the Computer Name of the machine. This can be found by going into the Control Panel and clicking on System, or right clicking on Computer or This PC icons and choosing Properties. Send Eric the Computer Name of the machine and he will contact you about installing the Cisco client.
For Mac and Linux laptop users, there is a client available for download and install. At this time we have not heard of users having problems connecting to the old VPN server using the native Mac and Linux VPN clients. If you want to have the new Cisco client installed on your Mac or Linux laptop please send Eric Stern an email and he will contact you about installing the client.
For faculty and staff using home machines or non UH machines to connect to the campus network please click on the following link.

Once at the site choose the installation that suits your needs. The directions to download, install, and configure the client are within the individual links.
Sorry for any inconvenience.
Thanks,
Eric
