UH students are eligible to participate in an opportunity for one of four scholarship awards. Students wishing to be considered for a scholarship award will be asked to submit an essay of 500 words or less in reply to the following prompt:

In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, please provide your observations on: 1) the impact Harvey has had on the UH community; 2) the effectiveness of the response and recovery efforts by UH as well as city, state and federal officials, and; 3) ways to improve the preparation for and reaction to a natural event such as Harvey.

•             Essay submissions can be submitted to bauer at bauer.uh.edu<mailto:bauer at bauer.uh.edu> and are be due by 5:00pm on Thursday, October 19th.
•             Essays will be reviewed by the Office of External Relations at the C.T. Bauer College of Business, with winners to be selected on the basis of the overall quality of the submitted essay.
•             Awards will be made as follows: 1) Overall Winning Essay: $1,000; 2) 1st runner up overall: $750; 3) 2nd runner up overall: $500; 4) Best Essay from First Year Student: $250
•             Awards will be announced at the end of the morning session on Friday, October 20th.
