Dear UH Engineering Faculty:

On behalf of the Vice Provost Jaime Ortiz and Dean Tedesco, I would like to bring to your attention this important international collaboration builder opportunity.

Faculty members working with nanomaterials/nanotechnologies/nanoinformatics/nanomanufacturing/nano health and safety are highly encouraged to attend the PanNano Conference that will occur on November 27-30th 2017 in Guaruja, Brazil. The University of Houston and the Cullen College of Engineering is co-sponsoring this conference by covering the registration fees and travel venues of the UH faculty members to attend the conference. They would like to have at least 10 UH faculty members attending the conference (hopefully a couple from each department).

The goal of this conference will not be just to attend the conference, but also to allow our faculty to network and develop collaborations with the faculty members from the University of Sao Paulo (which is ranked the best university in Latin America and 51-60 worldwide according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings).

UH and the Cullen College of Engineering is also trying to sign a Memorandum of Understanding and Dual Ph.D./M.S. degree agreements with the University of Sao Paulo as part of the college strategic plan to find other venues to recruit high-quality students for our Ph.D./M.S. programs. This will be a great opportunity for our graduate programs.

Important information about this opportunity:

1) Apply for the travel funds at UH using this link (for more information) to cover ALL your travel expenses: Global Faculty Development Fund (GFDF) under
http://www.uh.edu/provost/faculty/current/grants/global-fund/. Try to apply ASAP (preferably by next week).
2) Submit your abstract before August 10th to http://www.panamericannano2017.com/
3) Make sure to pay for the registration also before August 10th to pay the early bird registration
4) Keep in mind that you can book any flight career (non-US carrier will be cheaper, from my experience). So, please look for Google or the travel agency in the conference website.
5) If you want to visit the state of the art nanofabrication facility in Sao Paulo. Make sure to register for that as well on the conference website during your registration.

We hope we can have a great representation of UH faculty members in this conference to be able to make this partnership with USP successful!

Thank you,
