Good morning,
Here is another phishing attempt many of us received this morning. Please forward me all suspicious emails BEFORE acting on them, AND make sure you also let me know what red flags are present in said emails. This will help me to help you build on your understanding/recognition of malicious emails.
For this email, these are the red flags I identified:
-If you don't know who that person sending the email is, that's one red flag.
-The link is obviously a non-UH link, so that's a second red flag
-Administrators will never ask you to simply click on a link to resolve a problem. Third red flag.
-The email was signed with " Mail System Administrator Copyright 2016 E-mail Account Upgrade", then signed again with a seemingly credible UH employee signature. Seems like the hacker copied and pasted the signature on a generic phishing email body. Another red flag.
Thanks to all those who recognized that this was a suspicious email and forwarded it to me.
