To the Instructors in the Cullen College of Engineering:

There is a Career Fair coming up 10AM to 4PM on Thursday, February 11th, at the UH Hilton.

This is a request made at the urging of our students. Many of the students use the Career Fair as a step towards getting a job, on which they appropriately place a high priority. Some may even choose to miss a class, despite the clear risk this involves. I cannot directly condone that value judgment. However, I can ask that you consider whether you might be willing to change the date of a quiz or other similar assessments to another day other than February 11th, if that does not significantly affect your course and its effectiveness.

It should be clear that all choices are up to you. For myself, on the days of previous career fairs, I have postponed a quiz in my own course, but lectured during the full period. You should do what you think is appropriate for your course. The web page for the Engineering Career Center is:

Thanks,

fc
