[CCoE Notice] Server retirement: \\Laser

Good morning,

The Windows server, \\Laser<file:///\\Laser>, has been in service for about 15 years, and will need to be decommissioned due to performance and security reasons.  I plan on decommissioning \\Laser<file:///\\Laser> before the start of Fall 2016 semester.

Currently, \\laser\dropfolders<file:///\\laser\dropfolders> and \\laser\UHCourses<file:///\\laser\UHCourses> are the only two shares remaining on the server.  Blackboard should provide services that meet the needs of these two shares for your classes.  Please copy off any data from these two shares onto your computer, but let me know if Blackboard does not provide similar solutions that these shares currently do.  Please keep in mind that Courses.egr.uh.edu (reachable from a web browser) has already been in service for about a year now, and may also fill in service gaps that Blackboard and \\Laser<file:///\\Laser> cannot fill.
