[CCoE Notice] FW: Make Up Days

The Cullen College of Engineering will use May 3rd as an optional day to recover lost instructional time caused by inclement weather on Monday, April 18 and Tuesday April 19.


 *   The Engineering Undergraduate Programs’ Office will attempt to accommodate the instructors who identify the need to hold make-up classes.
 *   Please fill out the attached room reservation request form and send it to the Engineering Undergraduate Programs’ Office (EngrUGPR at uh.edu<mailto:EngrUGPR at uh.edu>) for processing.
 *   All Class-Make up requests submitted have priority over a confirmed  "EXTRA" event,. Thus, the confirmed event has the potential to lose its space confirmation.
 *   May 3 can be used or another day that is mutually agreed to by instructor and student(s).

Make-up classes held on May 3 or any other day will not necessarily be held in the room in which classes are regularly scheduled.

Dear UH Faculty and Administrators,

Following the University's official closing on Monday, April 18 and Tuesday, April 19 due to flooding across the Houston area, I would like to provide options for covering class material missed on those days.  Although the University of Houston campus has reopened, many of our students, faculty, and staff remain impacted by the flood's widespread damage and continuing mobility issues calling for a thoughtful and flexible approach.

We also find ourselves very close to the end of the semester with available days for make-up classes very limited.  With that in mind, make-up classes are not required and instructors may opt to meet on May 3 or another day mutually agreed upon with students while accommodating potential conflicts. Those who wish to meet should contact their college scheduler to secure a classroom. Other  means of covering missed material may include lectures posted on Blackboard or distributed through other technology, online activities, or assignments completed outside of class time.  I appreciate your understanding and wish you the best as you complete this semester under trying circumstances created by recent weather events.
