Professor of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics at Baylor College of Medicine


[cid:833782E5-6791-4E9F-9E04-F44093F00C97]Bio: Dr. Mary E. Dickinson, PhD is a Professor of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) in Houston, TX and an Adjunct Professor of Bioengineering at Rice University. She holds the Kyle and Josephine Morrow Endowed Chair and is also the Director of the Optical Imaging and Vital Microscopy Core. She is recognized as a leading expert in bioimaging and embryology and her research lab studies the mechanical regulation or cardiovascular morphogenesis. In addition to her main research focus, she leads the Embryo Lethal Phenotyping Pipeline at BCM, as part of the NIH-funded Knockout Mouse Project (KOMP). For this effort, she utilizes novel and state-of-the-art technologies to describe structural phenotypes observed in homozygous lethal (and subviable) null mouse mutants. Dr. Dickinson is a well-recognized member of the developmental biology and bioengineering communities. She was a Carnegie Institute lecturer in 2014, she won the Gerritsen award from the Microcirculatory Society in 2015 and she was inducted into the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineers in 2015.
