We are no longer collecting donations for Dr. Schulze. Thank you to all who donated! We were overwhelmed by the response and are now working on mailing the school supplies to Dr. Schulze.

Subject: [CCoE Notice] Collecting Donations for Afghan Schoolchildren

Dear UH faculty, staff and students:

Industrial Engineering Associate Professor Lawrence Schulze is also a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy and is currently on deployment in Afghanistan.

Along with U.S. Army Major Steven Beard and Captain Josef Danhel from the Czech Republic, Dr. Schulze has joined an international effort to provide school supplies to local K-12 schools as well as children's clothes to a local orphanage. Their goal is to collect supplies and distribute them in June during the Muslim holiday of Ramadan.

In support of this mission, the Cullen College of Engineering will be collecting donations from students, faculty and staff and sending them all in one large shipment to Dr. Schulze on May 15th.

They have asked for the following donations:

School supplies: Disposable pens, pencils, spiral notebooks, etc.

Children’s clothes: Inexpensive clothes, t-shirts, sweat suits, flip flops, etc.

Please bring any donations to the Cullen College Office of Communications, Engineering Building 2, room E301 by May 15th so they may be shipped before Ramadan.

Thank you,
Engineering Office of Communications
