Leonard Nimoy, the actor who played the half-Vulcan, half-human character, Mr. Spock, famous on "Star Trek," died Feb. 27, 2015.

It seems appropriate for the UH Cullen College of Engineering to join the world in remembering the actor who inspired generations of engineers and scientists.

For those of you who are fans of the television series and subsequent movies, please take a few minutes to share your memories and impressions for the college's Parameters magazine.

Here is what astronauts Mike Finke and Luca Parmitano had to say in their video-taped tribute from space:

Here are a few of Leonard Nimoy's ideas about his character, Mr. Spock:

*Nimoy described Mr. Spock as "struggling to maintain a Vulcan attitude, a
Vulcan philosophical posture and a Vulcan logic, opposing what was
fighting him internally, which was human emotion".

*When disease caused Mr. Spock to cry in an episode, Nimoy said:"I knew
that we were not playing a man with no emotions, but a man who had great
pride, who had learned to control his emotions and who would deny that he
knew what emotions were. In a way, he was more human than anyone else on
the ship."

Please share your thoughts about any or all of the following questions:

1. Are you a Trekkie? Why are you such a fan of the show? What did you like most about Mr. Spock?
2. Did Mr. Spock and the television series "Star Trek" influence your interest in science or space? If so, how?
2. Do you think Mr. Spock and "Star Trek" inspired general interest in space around the world? If so, how?
3. Do you have a favorite quote or scene from "Star Trek"? If so, why?
