Dear Cullen College faculty, staff and students,

It is my pleasure to announce that as of July 1, Sherri Winslow (BSEE ‘84), P.E., will join the University of Houston Cullen College of Engineering as the Director of the Engineering Career Center.

Since graduating from the Cullen College with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Sherri has enjoyed a long and successful career, serving in engineering and management positions at energy utilities companies including Entergy, Eversource Energy and Progress Energy, Inc. Sherri began her career in 1985 as an industrial account manager at Progress Energy in North Carolina, working her way up the ranks to engineering supervisor in 1995 and district operations supervisor in 1996. In 1998 she joined Entergy Corporation in Louisiana, where she served in distribution operations management positions for six years before switching gears to customer service process improvement and employee development for four years. She was then promoted to vice president of gas distribution business at Entergy in 2008, a position she held for two years. Sherri then accepted a position as director of electric distribution operations at Eversource Energy in 2010 and moved to Connecticut. She was the director of gas distribution operations at Eversource Energy from 2012 to 2015, before accepting her position at UH. Sherri earned a master’s in business administration from Louisiana State University in 2005.

In addition to her wealth of experience as an engineering operations executive, Sherri brings a unique flair for human resources and customer service to the Engineering Career Center. As a former Cullen College student herself, Sherri can draw not only from her professional experiences as an engineer but from her personal experiences as a UH student in order to lead the Engineering Career Center through many more successful years. I am confident that under Sherri’s guidance and leadership, the Engineering Career Center will continue to improve our students’ lives by helping their transition from college to the professional world become as seamless as possible.

I encourage you all to swing by the Career Center after July 1 to give Sherri a warm Cougar welcome!

Sincerely,
Joseph W. Tedesco Ph.D., P.E., F. ASCE
