UH Faculty and Staff:
CryptoLocker malware has been detected in emails at a UHS component campus. The messages appeared to come from a campus email address, and had an attachment that appeared to be a .zip file. At this time, UIT Security has not has any reports of it here at UH, but all users should be alert to for suspicious emails containing attachments that may appear to come from UH, or from another UH System campus. These messages are designed to trick you into clicking on the attachment and infecting your computer with malware. Do not open any attachments to these messages. Do not click on any links in the messages. Delete these messages immediately.
If you have already opened a suspicious message attachment, clicked on links in the message or would like to verify the validity of a message, contact UIT Security via email at security at uh.edu<mailto:security at uh.edu> or via phone at 832-842-4695.
Reminder:
* UH will never ask for your password or information about your account via email.
* Do NOT click on links or attachments in suspicious messages.
* Contact UIT Security immediately if you feel your account has been compromised.
* You are the best protection for your own personal information. Be vigilant!
