Felipe Bayon
Senior Vice President and Head of Global Deepwater Response, BP America

A native of Colombia, Felipe Bayon serves as Senior Vice President of BP America and heads the company’s Global Deepwater Response Group. In his Rockwell Distinguished Lecture on Friday, March 21, he will share his experiences in the energy industry — from his training as a mechanical engineer in Colombia with dreams of entering the automobile industry, to his current role as one of BP’s most senior leaders with more than 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Bayon will provide BP’s high-level view of the global energy picture in coming decades, particularly the role the U.S. can play in meeting the rising demand for energy in the developing world. He will also discuss some of the challenges the industry faces, such as “the Great Crew Change” — replacing the Baby Boomers hired in the 1970s and 1980s with a new generation of energy professionals skilled in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). These new energy leaders will pioneer technologies leading to a safer, stronger and more robust energy sector that will produce the jobs and prosperity on which the world’s people depend.
