Good afternoon,

In light of this weekend's schedule power outages, please remember to shut down all computers an electronics in your areas before leaving for Spring Break. If there are anyone in your area who are already out on break, please contact them and help shut down their computers and electronics for them.

Please remember to shut down computers properly by choosing "Shut down" from the "Start" button and NOT by simply pressing the power button on the computers. Shutting down a computer by pressing the power button on the computer may cause physical damage to computer components, resulting in possible unrecoverable data.

Thank you for your attention in this matter.

Building Coordinators - additional information regarding the planned outage:

As previously communicated, university buildings (see attached list of buildings) will experience planned electrical interruptions between March 14-16, 2014 to make necessary repairs to the electrical distribution system, as well as complete necessary preventative testing to the electrical distribution system.

During these three days, building occupants can expect power interruptions (blips) of a few seconds duration during building load transfers. All buildings will experience the blips unless otherwise communicated to you by Facilities Management staff.

These blips will occur during all time periods listed below:

1) On Friday, March 14, between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. and between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.

2) On Saturday, March 15, between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. and between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.

3) On Sunday, March 16, between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m.

How building occupants can help minimize impact:

Building occupants can help minimize the impact of the power outage by taking these few simple steps: please turn off electronic equipment to protect equipment and data; and when a blip occurs, please check lab systems and equipment.

There may be additional blips during the day on Friday and Saturday only if absolutely necessary, and if this occurs appropriate building coordinators will be notified in advance of additional power blips.

Please Note: If you experience extended power outages during this period, please call the Facilities Service Center at 3-4948.

If you have questions or need additional information regarding the power outage, please let me know.

Thank you.
