Dear Faculty, Postdocs, and Graduate Students,

We would like to encourage graduate students and postdocs in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and STEM education to take advantage of professional development opportunities offered through the CIRTL Network (see What is CIRTL? below). STEM graduate students, postdocs and faculty can access these opportunities by

1) subscribing to the UH-CIRTL listserv that provides up-to-date information related to local and cross-network CIRTL activities (see How do I subscribe to the UH-CIRTL LISTSERV? below),

2) going directly to the CIRTL website to learn more about the network and professional development opportunities (http://www.cirtl.net/ ), and

3) registering for online courses and joining CIRTL events (see What courses and events? below).

What is CIRTL?

CIRTL (Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning) is a network of 22 universities including the University of Houston. The mission of CIRTL is to enhance excellence in undergraduate education in STEM fields through the development of a national faculty committed to implementing and advancing effective teaching practices for diverse learners as part of successful and varied professional careers.

As a member of the CIRTL Network, UH has access to cross-network online courses, seminars, presentations, and discussion series that cover professional development topics for STEM graduate students primarily focused on enhancing STEM teaching but also covering other topics of interest to future STEM or STEM education faculty.
