Sent on Behalf of Dean Tedesco

To the Faculty of the Cullen College of Engineering:

The Cullen College of Engineering is embarking on a bold expansion plan to double our enrollment at the undergraduate level by 2025. As a step toward our accomplishing this goal, while aligning the College with UH initiatives for student success, I have formed a search committee to recommend, from within our college, candidates for the newly established position of Director of the Division for Undergraduate Programs and Student Success. The Director will: (1) develop and carry-out undergraduate expansion including building a quality transfer student pipeline from Community Colleges and other UH campuses; (2) lead and coordinate our four-pronged undergraduate student success strategic programs: Honors, PROMES, Undergraduate Research, and Internships; (3) focus on recruitment of a stellar First Time in College (FTIC) freshman class that is well positioned for retention and on-time graduation; (4) build community and community engagement programs with our undergraduate student organizations; (5) coordinate the day-to-day activities of our academic undergraduate programs including ABET, awarding of scholarships, new student orientation, and student advising, among others; and (6) coordinate and collaborate with undergraduate initiatives and programs in Academic Affairs, Admissions, and Student Affairs and Enrollment Services at the University level.

The search committee consists of Hanadi Rifai (Chair, Associate Dean for Research and Facilities), Teri Longacre (Vice Provost and Dean, Undergraduate Student Success), Ted Estess (Founding Dean, Honors College), Bill Epling (Associate Chair, Chemical Engineering), and Lesley Sisk (Academic Advisor, Undergraduate Programs). All tenured associate and full professors are eligible to apply. The ideal candidate for the position possesses a demonstrated record of commitment to undergraduate education, some experience with university processes, outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to manage relatively large programs and activities.

Interested candidates are requested to submit a cover email and a detailed curriculum vitae to the search committee chair (rifai at uh.edu<mailto:rifai at uh.edu>) with cc to Roshawnda Anderson (rmander2 at central.uh.edu<mailto:rmanderson2 at uh.edu>). The deadline for application is January 15, 2015.

Sincerely,
