Good morning,
As promised, this is a second reminder to turn off all computer equipment and electronics before leaving for the holiday break. Although the two main power "blips" are scheduled only for 12/26 and 12/30 so far, please expect additional, unplanned power outages as power testing continues during the holiday break.
For anyone needing remote access to their computers after 12/30, please make arrangements with me before leaving for the break to put settings in place for remote power on. I will try my best to help turn on computers remotely as needed. I will be answering emails throughout the break as well.
A final reminder will be sent early next week with updated power outages schedules. To check on the power outage schedules at any time, please follow the link in the email below, as well as this link: http://uh.edu/plantops/services/planned-outage/index.php
Thank you and have a safe holiday.

Campus Community,
This message is to serve as a reminder that brief electrical disruptions resulting from repair and investigative efforts will occur over the winter break between Dec. 26 and Dec. 30. For a list of buildings that will be impacted by the electrical disruptions, or power blips, click here<http://uhhelpdesk.custhelp.com/rd?1=AvNE~wqCDv8S~xb~Gv9a~yKYIM8qmM37JIQHVT7~Pv~O&2=14773>.
Building backup generators will be online during the electrical blips, which will occur as systems are transferred to generator power. Once the work is completed, blips will occur as the campus electrical feeders are realigned and balanced. Impacts will be to intermediate distribution frame (IDF) equipment, computers, lab research equipment and any instrument that is not on an uninterrupted power supply (UPS).
We are encouraging everyone to make any necessary arrangements to protect equipment during these power disruptions. So if you have any equipment you feel will be sensitive to the power blips, take precautions if your work/research allows by turning off the equipment beforehand and turning it back on once power is restored.
The intent is not to disrupt research or teaching efforts. However, if any department determines that the scheduled power blips will be problematic and unacceptable, they should reach out so that efforts can be made to accommodate their needs.
In the unlikely event an unforeseen circumstance arises and it is determined that additional steps need to be implemented to ensure campus electrical systems remain intact, the UH Physical Recovery Building Priority and Power Restoration Protocol will be implemented.
Principal Project Manager Shannon Jones is leading the electrical outage and can be contacted at 301-412-3182 or sejones3 at central.uh.edu<mailto:sejones3 at central.uh.edu>. If additional support is required as far as any experiments or ongoing research, contact Facilities Management Executive Director Herman Taitt at 504-444-3294 or taitt at uh.edu<mailto:taitt at uh.edu>.
For assistance during the electrical disruptions, contact the Facilities Service Center at 713-743-4948.
