Abstract:
Classical cryptography protocols are becoming vulnerable due to the increasing computer power. However, the optical fibers provide another method of securing the communication, which is Quantum cryptography. The concept of encoding the information in polarization of photons has proven to be unconditionally secure. Thus, a few protocols have been proposed but the practical implementation of most of them have posed many complications.
    In this thesis work, a Quantum control protocol is proposed to safeguard a secure transaction of quantum cryptography protocol over an optical network. The protocol provides a robust re-configurable architecture capable of incorporating several promising quantum cryptography protocols.  The quantum control protocol has been prototyped on a FPGA testbed.
