Dear Cullen College faculty, staff and students,

As many of you already know, Dr. Kathy Zerda, our PROMES program director for nearly 10 years, will begin her much-deserved retirement at the end of this month. Kathy has led our PROMES program to new heights through her ceaseless hard work, positive attitude, and commitment to our college and our students. Under her guidance, I have watched the PROMES program grow and evolve into the unstoppable force that it is today, providing our students with a support system, a sense of community, and a feeling that they have a home in the Cullen College of Engineering.

As a college, we want to honor Kathy and the time she devoted to PROMES by ensuring its success for many, many years to come. That's why we chose Diana de la Rosa-Pohl as the next PROMES program director, and have tasked her with overseeing the program's expansion. While this is no small task, Diana is ready to face the challenge head-on and to lead the program through many more years of growth and success.

Diana has served as a lecturer at the Cullen College for more than 10 years. Since 2003, she has won two awards from the college for excellence in teaching and played a central role in developing the curriculum for the Honors Engineering Program. Much like Kathy, Diana is known by many UH engineering students as one of the most caring and devoted faculty members in the college - a quality which she is excited to carry into her new role as PROMES director.

I couldn't be more proud and excited about where PROMES has come from and where it will go next. Though Kathy will be deeply missed in our day-to-day lives, we are all looking forward to a new chapter of success for the PROMES program and its director, Diana de la Rosa-Pohl.

Sincerely,
Joseph W. Tedesco Ph.D., P.E., F. ASCE
Elizabeth D. Rockwell Dean
Cullen College of Engineering
