Good morning,

I just want to update you all on the power issues that is happening on campus. There are numerous rumors as to what caused the power outage and why it continues, but here is the bottom line. A couple power feeds to the main campus are damaged, so there is limited power on campus. This affects campus-wide power, cooling and chilled water. Repairs to the damaged power feeds could be finished this weekend or later.

With that partial knowledge, I encourage everyone to help out by minimizing the use of electronics in your areas. The ECC server room has been at high temperatures, therefore, non-essential servers are powered off until cooling returns. If your servers are in our area and you can do without it for a few days, please let me know so I can shut them down. The same is true for computers and lab equipment. We should plan for this outage for at least into the weekend ahead.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to carry out business as usual.

Subject: Cooling issues continue in

Good morning,

Cooling issues continue in the ECC suite. We will turn back on mission-critical servers, and leave the others off until cooling is restored in the ECC. Please email me separately regarding servers that you'll need turned back on for your area.
Also, if your area is also experiencing lack of cooling, please turn off electronics that are not being used to minimize heat buildup. If cooling issues are not resolved by the time you leave for the day, please turn off all electronics for the same reason.

Thank you for your cooperation.
