Project Schedule Risk Management
By
Robert Bregman
Associate Professor of Supply Chain Management
Department of Decision & Information Sciences
University of Houston
Abstract
Almost all projects include some degree of schedule uncertainty that needs to be managed to ensure that required completion deadlines are met. Because the foundation of modern project scheduling methods focus on tasks defined as critical under conditions of certainty, project managers must often resort to expensive expediting late in projects or miss deadlines when tasks take longer than expected. In this presentation, I will review some recent work I have done toward developing and testing a project schedule risk management process that better deals with the realities of task time uncertainty.
