George L. Hall, a well-known University of Houston alumnus, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013.
Committed to lifelong learning, Mr. Hall earned three degrees from UH, a bachelor's of science in math in 1959, a bachelor's of science in industrial engineering in 1977, and a 2011 master's in industrial engineering at the age of 86. He also earned a master's of science safety from the University of Southern California in 1988.
Mr. Hall was known for his humor, optimism, and energy. Incredibly proud of his alma mater, Mr. Hall demonstrated his enthusiasm for all things UH by driving a red SUV with plates reading "SR Coog," faithfully attending UH football and basketball games, and generously creating opportunities for other students by endowing several scholarships.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 22 at 10:30 a.m. at Clear Lake Presbyterian Church, located at 1511 El Dorado Blvd., Houston, Tex. 77062. His wife Myra has asked that attendees from UH wear red to the service in honor of Mr. Hall's Cougar pride.
