[CCoE Notice] FW: Critical High Voltage Repairs 7/20/2013

Good afternoon,

In light of the critical high voltage repairs this weekend in buildings 579, 580 and 581 (Engineering D, D2 and D3), all computers and electronics that use building power will need to be shut down during the maintenance window (Saturday 10PM - Sunday 6AM).  This includes computers and electronics in the ECC, namely print servers, file sharing servers, application servers, web servers, etc. Moreover, networking will also be unavailable since the network switches may also depend on building power.  It's a good idea to shut down devices well before and after in case the maintenance crew runs ahead or behind schedule.

Servers in the ECC will be turned back on by Sunday 10PM - Monday 8AM, depending on availability of power and cooling in the server rooms.

Please plan your work accordingly and make sure lab equipment will be shut down as well.  If you're not on campus and cannot turn off computers and electronics in your office or labs, please contact folks in your respective departments for assistance in doing so.  It is essential that computers and electronics are powered down to protect against power outages.

Just a reminder, the power outage scheduled for 7/20/13 is next weekend.  All power will be off for the stated times.  I do not have any information as to exactly what equipment is connected to the building generator(s), so preparations should be made in case individual items are not connected.

Good Morning All:

I am contacting all of you because each of you are listed as either the primary or secondary building coordinators for each of the buildings bellow. FM Technical Services Electrical Department is in need of performing critical high voltage repairs that impacts the buildings listed below. These repairs are almost to the point of emergency and are very necessary. We have assigned to a contractor that will be assisting us to complete the repairs in a timely manner. To perform the work we will need to schedule a complete building power outage for an approximate duration of 6-8 hours. Only emergency generator life safety systems will be available during this time period. Could each of you please contact and confirm any building occupants that the proposed date and time of 7/20/2013, 10:00 pm to 7/21/2013, 6:00 am would be acceptable. Attached is a draft of the outage notification. Please respond ASAP.
