Example of a Broader Impact Statement.....





The University of Houston (UH) is the leading public research university in
Houston and one of the top research universities in the State of Texas.  In
2011, UH was designated a Tier One Research University by the Carnegie
Foundation.  UH’s student body of more than 39,800 students is one of the
most diverse in the U.S., including international students (8.5%),
multiracial students (2.2%), students of unknown ethnicity (0.7%), African
Americans (12.1%), Asian Americans (19.3%), Hawaiian/Pacific Islanders
(0.3%), Native Americans (0.3%), Caucasians (33.1%), and Hispanics
(23.5%).  In 2012, the U.S. Department of Education granted UH its official
*Hispanic-Serving Institution* designation.
