[CCoE Notice] Call for Nominations - Outstanding Staff Service Award

CCE Faculty and Staff:

This is a call for nominations for the Cullen College of Engineering Outstanding Staff Service Award.  Two awards will be presented at the Spring Faculty-Staff Meeting to a junior and senior staff member as defined in the criteria below.  The junior award includes a check in the amount of $1,000 and the senior award carries $1,500.
Nominations:  Complete the attached nomination form and submit it as a pdf document to Dr. Pradeep Sharma, Committee Chair (psharma at Central.UH.EDU<mailto:psharma at Central.UH.EDU>),  by April 16, 2012.

Award Criteria:

Purpose:

This award is intended to recognize and honor Cullen College of Engineering staff who have demonstrated excellence in service and exemplary productivity to their respective departments and the college.

A nominee must:


*         Be a member of the Cullen College of Engineering staff for at least two years (persons holding faculty rank are not eligible)

*         Have a minimum of three years service at the University of Houston

*         Be a permanent full time (at least 50% FTE) employee

*         Not have been a recipient of the award for the past five years

Nominees will be evaluated based on the following:


*         Demonstrates excellence in performance

*         Provides exceptional customer service (internal/external)

1.       Exceeds customers' expectations

2.       Shows perseverance and responsiveness to customers' needs

*         Displays creativity in developing and implementing efficient and cost effective procedures and processes to increase office productivity and reduce operational costs

*         Takes initiative to continuously engage in professional and technical self improvements

*         Takes initiative to reduce organizational barriers through activities such as mentoring, voluntarily assisting co-workers, and participating in cross-functional activities.

Number of Awards:


*         A total of two Outstanding Staff Service Awards will be presented annually.  One award will be presented to a staff member with 10 years or less service and the second award will be presented to the individual with over 10 years of service.

How to nominate for this award:


*         Any member of the faculty and staff may submit nominations.

*         All nominations must be approved by nominee's corresponding unit/department
