> During this week’s meeting of the National Science Foundation (NSF) Advisory Committee on International Science and Engineering (AC-ISE), NSF Assistant Director for Geosciences Tim Killeen announced an upcoming funding opportunity through the Belmont Forum. The Belmont Forum includes representatives from international research funding agencies (NSF and its counterparts abroad) responsible for environmental and global change research. Tim stated that a joint call for proposals between NSF and the UK Natural Environment Research Council will be announced next week at the Royal Society in London under the auspices of the Belmont Forum. Proposals will be accepted in the areas of coastal vulnerability and freshwater security, with 17 million Euros available for each. Proposals will be reviewed jointly. This competition is meant to align with the NSF Science, Engineering, and Education for Sustainability (SEES) program. It is intended that there will be an annual solicitation through the Belmont Forum.

> Details are scarce, but we wanted to provide a heads up in case there are people on campus interested in this from either the environmental or international angles. We will pass along additional details as they become available. More about the Belmont Forum is at http://igfagcr.org/index.php/belmont-forum.
