[CCoE Notice] Budget Priorities Feedback

Dear Engineering Faculty and Staff:

The University of Houston Faculty Senate recently directed our attention
toward an article in the Austin American Statesman that indicated state
agencies (including public universities) have been asked to plan for a
possible 10% cut in their state funding for the FY 2014 - FY 2015 biennium,
which begins on September 1, 2013. This information is consistent with
information that Chancellor Khator and Provost Antel have shared with the
University of Houston community as well.

To that end, I am seeking your input on our budget priorities over the next
two years. A 10% decrease in funding for our college represents about $1.5M.
Our budget expenditures rest primarily with faculty and staff salaries,
graduate student support, and general operations (phones, copiers, etc.).
Please provide me your thoughts on this matter by August 15, 2012. I will
share your input with my newly formed Dean's Advisory Committee in late
August.

Please send your input to dean at egr.uh.edu.

Sincerely,

Joe Tedesco

Joseph W. Tedesco, Ph.D., P.E.
