[CCoE Notice] College Business Operations

[Dean Joseph Tedesco]

Dear Cullen College Faculty and Staff,

 

At the end of August, Dorothy Barrera, director of college business
operations, will be retiring from UH. Dorothy has been with the university
more than 26 years, working for the Division of Student Affairs, the UH
Budget Office and Human Resources before joining the Cullen College in 1993
to head business operations.

 

Hired by former Dean Roger Eichhorn, Dorothy's nearly 20 years of service
with the college includes managing a combined state and designated budget of
more than $20M, overseeing all business operations, and directing facility
upgrades and renovations, including classrooms, the Engineering Computing
Center, the Engineering Educational Resource Center and many of our commons
areas. She has served on countless university and college-wide committees,
and has played a significant role in the planning and development of future
facilities for our college.

 

She received a University Staff Excellence Award in 2006 for her exemplary
dedication and service to UH. Join me in congratulating Dorothy for her many
years of service to our college and wishing her well in her retirement!
