[CCoE Notice] Oak Ridge Associated Universities... Guest Speaker on UH Campus

Dr. Steve Roberts, technical representative from the Oak Ridge
Associated Universities (ORAU), will visit the University of Houston
on Thursday, February 9 to provide an update on research and education
opportunities and to identify institutional strategic research areas.



There will be a session for UH faculty to visit with Dr. Roberts from
10:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. in the MD Anderson Library, Room 306.



Dr. Roberts will talk about ORAU’s and Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s
(ORNL’s) specific topical areas of interest for partnerships.    ORNL
has principal interests in neutron science, computational application,
and climate change research.  ORAU core competencies are in the fields
of radiation emergency response and operational readiness;
environmental health, analysis and communications; forensic analysis;
science workforce development and evaluation; and technical training.
These core competencies are interdisciplinary and crosscut several
university departments, e.g., computer and information sciences,
engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, and others.
