 ****

I am pleased to announce the FY2012 Call for Proposals (CFP) for the QEP
Curriculum/Course Development Grant Program. *Please forward this message
and encourage faculty in the College of Engineering to submit a QEP
proposal.* ****

The program is primarily focused on inquiry-based enhancement and
development of the undergraduate curriculum. However, proposals involving
graduate courses that are cross-listed for undergraduate enrollment are
eligible.* *

Faculty in the College of Engineering have implemented several successful
QEP Projects in past rounds. Perhaps there are opportunities to build on
those earlier projects or expand to other courses or other areas. ****

QEP proposal submissions will be accepted through Wednesday, March 21,
2012. Please see below for the full text copy of the Call for Proposal memo
from Dr. Elaine Charlson. The QEP Guidelines and Proposal Form for
2012-2013 may be downloaded via links posted at:
http://www.uh.edu/discovery/QEPGrantGuidelines.html****

Faculty who plan to submit a proposal are invited to attend the upcoming
workshop:
*QEP Grant Workshop
Friday, February 24, 2012
*1:00 – 3:00 pm
KIVA, Farish Hall
RSVP to discovery at uh.edu if you plan to attend****

In preparation for development of a QEP grant proposal, faculty,
departments, and colleges are encouraged to review their undergraduate
curriculum and consult with QEP Resource Collaborators to develop a
proposal focused on integrating inquiry-based learning or research
practicum into existing or new courses. *I am also available to facilitate
QEP grant planning meetings for faculty teams, departments, or
colleges. Please
contact me if you are interested in scheduling such a session. *

Should you have any questions, you may directly them to me via reply to
this email or discovery at uh.edu or phone ext. 3-5099. ****

Best regards,
Veronique ****

The Division of Academic Affairs is pleased to announce the third call for
proposals for the QEP Curriculum/Course Development Grant program.
Individual faculty, teams of faculty, departments, and colleges are
encouraged to submit proposals to request support for development and pilot
implementation of enhancements that incorporate inquiry-based learning
and/or research practica in the curriculum. The deadline for proposal
submission is Wednesday, March 21, 2012.****

** **

The QEP Curriculum Development Grant Program is part of the comprehensive
undergraduate research Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), named the *Learning
through Discovery Initiative. *In April 2008, the SACS On-Site Review
Committee praised the UH QEP, which is focused on integrating research into
the undergraduate experience. A cornerstone of the *Learning through
Discovery Initiative *is a broad-based effort to integrate research into
the curriculum through initiation of this QEP Curriculum Development Grant
Program. Since 2009, the program has funded 42 QEP projects in various
departments impacting over 17,000 enrolled students.
