The Science Engineering Fair of Houston (SEFH) is one of the major educational activities that we support each year. They are the largest and oldest pre-college level extracurricular STEM activity in the greater Houston area and one of the largest fairs of its kind in the U.S.
This coming March 1-3, at the George R. Brown Convention Center-Hall D, over 1400 students in grades 7-12 from public, private, charter and even home schools from throughout SE Texas will be participating in this exciting and very meaningful event. We strongly urge you to provide both financial support and people support for this event, which for 53-years has been encouraging Texas youth to be “doers.”
About 85% of their annual operating costs are paid for by your contributions. They need about 600 judges with expertise in some area of STEM on March 2. Make sure your volunteers wear an article of clothing or badge which identifies them with your organization. You may also want to be a Special Awarding Agency.
Information pertaining to all of this can be found on their website @ www.sefhouston.org<http://www.sefhouston.org>. When you enter the website you will see various sites to go to for needed forms and other information. If you desire additional information, you may contact Dr. Larry Spears, Executive Director of SEFH at 713-221-8426 or 713-202-6124 or spearsl at uhd.edu<mailto:spearsl at uhd.edu>.
