Faculty,
I am sending this on behalf of the Faculty Senate's engineering faculty at the request of Faculty Senate President Dmitri Litvinov.
Short Version:
In the Faculty Senate meeting Wednesday the importance of placing book orders by the deadline was stressed. If you have not already done so order your Spring 2013 books today or tomorrow. If you don't require a book report this fact.
You can order your books, or report that you don't require a book, through the appropriate staff member in your Department or online at:
http://uh.bncollege.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/FacultySplashLoginView?storeId=19067&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&langId=-1&postLogonURL=BNCBFacultyAdoptionEmail&previouspage=faculty
Long Version:
At the Faculty Senate meeting Wednesday one point that senators were asked to carry to all faculty is that it is truly critical that we put our book orders in by the deadline. The Senate President (Dmitri Litvinov) expressed the fact that he thinks many of us weren't clear of all the ramifications of not getting these book orders in by the deadline.
>From what we were told, the fact that we are not following federal and state law on this is hurting UH's position w.r.t. funding discussions with state legislators on other topics. The legislators point to the fact that, on average, only 17% of our faculty submit book orders on time.
We are past the deadline set by the University, but the state stipulates the latest deadline a University can set is 30 days before the class session begins. So if you get your book orders in today or tomorrow that will meet the 30 days limit stipulated in the statute.
Please give your book orders (or the fact that you don't require a book) to you're the appropriate staff member in your Department or report this information yourself to the Bookstore via this website:

Best,
Reagan
