Subject: Check your computer(s) for DNS Changer Malware
There was a very widespread compromise of Windows systems last year, in which the DNS service was altered to redirect the web browser to sites operated by a criminal enterprise. This group was eventually arrested by the FBI. However, it is important to identify any systems that were compromised so that we can restore them to normal operation.
Everyone in the College is requested to go to the following webpage to check their computer(s) for possible compromise:
<http://www.dns-ok.us/>
If this page displays a picture with a GREEN background, then your computer is not infected, and you need do nothing further.
However, if this page displays a picture with a RED background, then your computer is very probably compromised, and you should notify Engineering Computing at your earliest convenience.
For additional information, you can see the AP article in this Sunday's
