[CCoE Notice] Abaqus licensing for researchers in the Cullen College

CCoE Researchers,

We are investigating the possibility of acquiring a pool of research 
licenses for the commercial finite element analysis package Abaqus.  We 
are considering a model in which those faculty who provide funds will be 
the ones who have access to the licenses.  Currently, approximately 10 
faculty members in the College have expressed an interest and are prepared 
to commit funds to support this effort.  I am sending this email to ask 
if there is broader interest among the researchers in the College.

Consider that for an individual researcher to purchase a single seat 
research license for Abaqus for three years would cost upwards of $10,000.
By pooling resources, and by paying for a 3-year license with a one-time 
upfront payment, we can obtain a significant discount.

If you are interested in participating in this effort, please reply to 
this email by COB next Friday (7 October).  Also, please indicate if you 
are willing to commit funds (on the order of $500 - $1000) to this effort.
