The UH Center for Industrial Partnerships invites you to attend its seminar
on intellectual property entitled:
*Patenting Inventions and its Process at UH*
*Guest speaker: Dr. Benjamin Adler, Patent Attorney at Adler and
Associates *
*Host: Dr. Emmanuelle Schuler, Director of the
Center for Industrial Partnerships*

*When*: Thursday March 31st, 2011 from Noon to 1:30 pm
*Where*: Rockwell Pavilion in the MD Anderson Library
*What*: Seminar on intellectual property and the importance of patenting
inventions
The protection of inventions is a cornerstone to the commercialization of
research into products. Patent Attorney Dr. Benjamin Adler will discuss the
basics of patents, from the application stage to the issuance of a patent.
Dr. Emmanuelle Schuler will discuss UH policy and procedures on intellectual
property and how the Center for Industrial Partnerships can assist inventors
in the patent process – while avoiding unnecessary delays in the publication
of research articles.
*No cost to attend*. Open to UHS faculty, staff, and students. Feel free to
circulate this announcement among colleagues, post-docs, and students.
*About Dr. Benjamin Adler*: Dr. Adler has been practicing patent law for
nearly 21 years in the areas of medicine, life sciences, semiconductors, and
computer technology. He received his Ph.D. in molecular pharmacology from
the University of Tennessee School of Medicine and his J.D. from Boston
University Law School. Dr. Adler also acts as outside counsel to UH on
patent matters.

growing UH research enterprise and to disseminating knowledge and best
practices in innovation and research commercialization. The CIP is part of
the Office of Intellectual Property Management in the Division of Research.
