Good afternoon!  I wanted to alert you and your faculty to an energy
innovation forum that will be hosted by the Advanced Research Projects
Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) in Scottsdale, Arizona, on Monday, October 18.
ARPA-E is the federal research agency charged with supporting
“game-changing” ideas for new energy technologies.  ARPA-E seeks high-risk,
high-reward research to promote the development of clean energy sources.



This event is modeled on a national summit hosted by ARPA-E last March.  Don
Birx attended the workshop portion of the national summit, which brought
together ARPA-E program managers, researchers, industry, and venture
capitalists to discuss R&D, demonstration, and deployment of new energy
technologies.  There is no charge to attend the Southwest Energy Innovation
Forum, but space is limited.
