Dear Colleagues:
I want to alert you to a special funding strategy the NHLBI is using for
three Program Announcements (PAs) recently published in the NIH Guide
(listed below). We are seeking to announce these opportunities as broadly
as possible, and we encourage you to share this information with anyone in
your institution who might be interested.
Unamended new (Type 1) applications submitted in response to these PAs will
be considered for funding at 5 percentile points above the Institute’s
regular payline for unamended R01 applications.
Early stage investigators (ESIs) will receive the normal 5 percentile
advantage, and will automatically receive an additional 5 percentile
advantage without having to resolve comments in the summary statement, for a
total of a 10 percentile advantage.
Please follow these links to view the three PAs:
· PA-11-011: Getting from Genes to Function in Lung Disease
(R01)<http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PA-11-011.html>
· PA-11-012: Toward An Improved Understanding of HDL Function
(R01)<http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PA-11-012.html>
· PA-11-013: Sickle Cell Disease: Inflammation, Thrombosis and
Vascular Dysfunction
(R01)<http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PA-11-013.html>
With best wishes,
Susan B. Shurin
