Dear Colleagues of Engineering,

Here is my first report from the Faculty Senate Educational Policies and Student Affairs Committee (EPSAC).

EPSAC is looking into the High Risk Courses, i.e. courses with high rates of DWIF grades.

Attached below is a table of the top 30 courses with the highest rates of DWIF grades across all sections of the course with at least 20 students enrolled from fall 2008.

CHEE 2332, CIVE2330 and ECE1331 are ranked among the top five on the list.

This is the data that the Office of Institutional Research was asked to pull together for SAG. I would appreciate inputs and guidance from all engineering faculty, in particular, those from Dean Tedesco, Undergraduate Dean Shattuck and the departmental undergraduate advisors.

Besides EPSAC, please also let me know if you have any concerns related to the Scholarship & Community Committee of which I am also a member. Thank you.
