Engineering Computing has obtained a reference copy of FEMA's software
program for estimating potential losses from natural disasters, HAZUS-MH
MR4 (v1.4), dated August 2009. For additional information, see
<http://www.fema.gov/plan/prevent/hazus/index.shtm>.
This is a large program. It runs on Microsoft Windows XP SP3, and it
requires ArcView 9.3 SP1 or ArcGIS 9.2 SP5 as a prerequisite. Even on a
moderately fast computer, the total installation time can take several
hours.
Researchers can order the HAZUS-MH software from FEMA at no cost (see the
website noted above).
For those who have a well-defined need to use this software on a limited
number of computers, Engineering Computing can provide limited support to
assist with the initial installation and configuration.
