Dean Tedesco has asked that I send out the following:

Engineering Faculty, <>

Below are the College Guidelines and Application Format for faculty
interested in applying for a Faculty Development Leave for 2010-2011.
If you plan to take a Faculty Development Leave, please submit your
request to Dean Tedesco by May 14, 2010. <>Due to the current and
projected budget restrictions, we do not anticipate any University
replacement funds for faculty on leave. Therefore, department budgets
must bear the financial burden of any leaves granted. It is essential
that you obtain the approval of your Department Chair before submitting
your request to the Dean. In considering a request, the Dean will give
priority to faculty members requesting a full academic year leave.

Provost Antel expects annual research expenditures to increase to
$350,000 per year per FTE faculty member, and our annual PhD graduation
rate to approach 1.0 PhD graduates per FTE faculty. Thus, consistent
with these Tier 1 initiatives, a Faculty Development Leave plan should
include how the leave will significantly enhance research expenditures
and PhD student support.

If you have any questions, please let me know.
